The Trick That Will Tame Your To-Do List

First, separate your to-do list into different categories. Splitting tasks into segments will help you compartmentalize different types of activities, grouping together related tasks. And it will help you focus on all the important matters you need to focus on each day to keep moving forward in your business.

For business owners, I suggest the following 4 categories for your to-do list:

  1. Service Delivery
  2. Marketing and Business Development
  3. Administrative Activities
  4. Self-Care

Pay careful attention to each important category every day. And each day, you are only allowed to select 1 or 2 items per category to add to your to-do list. Break the tasks down into small enough steps that the step can actually be finished within the day at hand.

Set yourself the intention to focus on each category, and make progress on your set tasks that day, while also allowing room for flexibility.

You may realize that, instead of skipping the task, you need to break it down into smaller pieces — check off what you actually do, and add the other pieces to another day. Getting completion is critical to your success.

I find that when you can check off even one success on your list, you feel more balanced, successful, and happy. When you actually do the items on your to-do list, you’ve done what you need to move closer to creating a thriving business.
